A Bano Qabil student, Raja Kamran, has developed a women-only ride-hailing app designed to provide a safer and more comfortable transportation option for women in Pakistan.
In a media interaction, Kamran has stated that the platform will only offer women passengers a connection with women drivers, ensuring a safe traveling environment and removing concerns about safety issues that women may experience when travelling with male drivers.
Designed to Improve Women’s Safety
Kamran says the concept was taken from the ride-hailing apps but modified to better suit female commuters. The app’s restriction on female drivers and passengers is designed to provide a safer environment and foster greater confidence among women to avail of ride-hailing services.
The project also aims to provide employment for women through greater opportunities for women to enter the transportation industry.
App to Launch Soon
The women-only ride-hailing app is slated to go live in the near future. After its launch, it will prioritize safe, convenient and reliable women-friendly transport services in Pakistan.
The project celebrates the contributions of young innovators of the Bano Qabil initiative, whose use of technology is helping to address real-world problems and to encourage the involvement of women in the nation’s digital and transportation spaces.
