CDA Takes Swift Action to Alleviate Water Shortage in Islamabad

In response to the pressing issue of water scarcity in the capital, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has initiated a series of expedited projects under the directive of its Chairman. The Water Management Wing is actively addressing concerns by undertaking repair work and resolving complaints, focusing on leakages and replacing aging pipes in critical facilities such as the Simli Water Filtration Plant and Main Condition Line.

The proactive measures implemented by the Water Supply Wing have not only successfully saved a significant 8 lakh gallons of water per day but have also substantially improved water pressure in the city’s pipelines. Notably, leakages in water supply lines in Sector G-7 have been efficiently rectified.

The ongoing decrease in water levels in various dams, including Khanpur Dam, due to insufficient rainfall during the monsoon season, has prompted the Water Supply Department to work tirelessly in anticipation of summer. By ensuring the timely resolution of repair work and complaints, the department aims to guarantee a steady and sufficient water supply for the citizens.

To further augment water reserves, the Water Supply Department plans to install four new tube wells in strategically selected sectors such as F-10, F-11, G-10, and G-11. Tenders for these projects have been advertised in newspapers, showcasing the commitment to addressing potential water shortages before the onset of summer.

In addition to these initiatives, a budget of Rs60 crore has been allocated for the commencement of projects aimed at eliminating water leakages in various water networks, including main condition lines. This comprehensive approach is expected to contribute significantly to water conservation, ensuring a sustainable and reliable water supply for the residents of Islamabad.

As the CDA continues its relentless efforts, the citizens can look forward to improved water infrastructure and enhanced measures to combat water scarcity in the capital.
