The Eid Ul Adha holiday in Pakistan for 2026 is expected to fall in the last week of May, according to preliminary astronomical projections shared by the SUPARCO. The forecast has generated early interest across the country as citizens begin planning travel and holiday schedules.
Eid Ul Adha holiday in Pakistan Expected date
According to SUPARCO’s lunar calculations, Eidul Azha 2026 in Pakistan is most likely to be observed on 27th May 2026, but the final confirmation of moon sighting will be issued by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
According to the forecast:
- The Zilhajj moon is expected to be born on May 17, 2026 (1:01 AM PST)
- The first day of Zilhajj is likely to begin on May 18, 2026
- Eidul Azha is projected around May 27, 2026
SUPARCO also stated that the age of the moon would be approximately 18 hours and 30 minutes at the time of sunset on May 17, which is an important determinant of crescent visibility. The time between sunset and moonset can also be nearly an hour longer in the coastal regions, which may aid in viewing nights under clear skies.
Expected Eid Ul Adha holiday in Pakistan schedule
Eidul Fitr in Pakistan starts one day in advance, as a tradition, in order to allow the public to travel in order to prepare for the festival.
If the usual government pattern is followed, the expected holidays may be:
- May 26 (Tuesday) to May 29 (Friday)
The weekend may fall within the holiday season, meaning that some workers may have up to six days off in a row, depending on the official government announcement.
Final confirmation pending moon sighting
Astronomical calculations have been made but the exact date of Eid Ul Adha will only be confirmed after the announcement of the sighting of the moon by the religious authorities. Pakistan still follows the decision of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for final confirmation of Islamic lunar months.
Strong Eid traditions in Pakistan
Eidul Azha remains one of the most widely observed religious festivals in Pakistan, marked by Qurbani (animal sacrifice), family gatherings, and charitable giving. In the previous year, millions of animals were sacrificed nationwide, reflecting the continued cultural and religious significance of the occasion.
As anticipation builds, the Eid Ul Adha holiday in Pakistan is expected to bring nationwide travel activity, shopping, and preparations in the days leading up to the festival.
