In a tumultuous overnight weather event, Lahore experienced a severe onslaught of heavy rain, hailstorm, and strong gales, leaving the city grappling with its aftermath.
Late at night, the city was battered by torrential downpours, accompanied by large hailstones and powerful gales. The inclement weather wreaked havoc on the city, resulting in the fall of three trees and a utility pole along the iconic Mall Road. Furthermore, the storm caused a significant disruption in the city’s power supply, as approximately 150 feeders tripped, leaving many areas plunged into darkness.
According to officials from the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), the highest recorded rainfall in Lahore occurred at Lakshmi Chowk, measuring an impressive 55 mm. The heavy precipitation has raised concerns about potential flooding and has prompted authorities to issue a weather advisory for residents to remain vigilant.
