Fawad Chaudhry and Other Former PTI Members May Rejoin Party

In a surprising turn of events, Fawad Chaudhry, the former PTI leader, is reportedly considering a return to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). This development comes after he departs from the party following a meeting with PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, in Adiala Jail on May 9.

The PTI Punjab chapter’s underperformance and Chaudhry’s conspicuous absence from the political landscape have reportedly prompted this decision. Imran Khan, seeking to fill the leadership void, has reportedly chosen Chaudhry, the former federal minister.

Chaudhry’s political interest in PTI is evident on social media, where he has been vocal in his support and praise for the party. On PTI’s 28th founding day, he likened the party’s status in Pakistan to that of the All India Muslim League for the Muslims of India in 1946. He commended Imran Khan for his courage in standing up for people’s rights, despite imprisoned and facing state oppression.

In addition to Chaudhry, other former PTI leaders, including Ali Zaidi and Imran Ismail, are also reportedly contemplating a return to the party. However, their return is contingent on the approval of the founding chairman.

Zaidi and Ismail, both hailing from Sindh, are reportedly eager to meet the former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, in jail to seek his approval. Other leaders, including Usman Dar, Ali Nawaz Awan, Sadaqat Abbasi, and Chaudhry, also expected to return, given Khan’s positive attitude towards them.

However, Chaudhry’s potential return has sparked controversy among the new senior PTI leaders. Disagreements have arisen within the PTI’s P and Punjab chapters over the return of former prominent PTI members who left the party after the May 9 debacle. PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leaders Aslam Iqbal and Hammad Azhar have reportedly expressed their disappointment over this development.

The official announcement regarding Chaudhry’s return expected next week. This news stirred the political waters, and it remains to seen how it will impact the party’s dynamics and Pakistan’s political landscape.
