Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah had a sit-down with Iran’s Consul General Hassan Norian and Vice Consul General Ali Khoshrou on Tuesday. They talked about boosting relations, mutual benefits, and trade opportunities between Pakistan and Iran. The Chief Minister brought up the close ties that the two countries share, which go way back. He said these bonds have only gotten stronger over time. He pointed out how Sindh can play a big role in boosting trade by exporting stuff like meat, and fruits, especially Sindhri mangoes and Larkana guavas to Iran.
The Iranian Consul General, Hassan Norian, mentioned that the trade volume between the two countries is at $2 billion right now. But he said there’s a goal to take it up to $3 billion soon, showing Iran’s interest in ramping up economic cooperation. Both sides agreed to send more trade delegations back and forth to make the ties even stronger.
One thing that stood out in their talks was the idea of starting a ferry service between Karachi and Chabahar, Iran. Chief Minister Shah said that a ferry service could make it much easier for people, especially pilgrims and students, to travel between the two countries. It’s about making the journey simpler and increasing connectivity.
Adding to that, Consul General Norian invited the Sindh Chief Minister to attend a cultural festival in Iran this November. This showed how important cultural exchange is, along with economic cooperation. It’s not just about business, it’s about keeping the cultural connections alive too.
