Free Solar Panels for Punjab Homes: Apply Now (Eligibility & Benefits)

The Punjab government has announced a new initiative to provide complimentary solar systems to 50,000 households across the province. This innovative program, named the “Roshan Gharana Program,” aims to reduce electricity costs for low-consumption households, with the provincial government fully funding the project at an estimated cost of Rs10 billion.

Free Solar System Scheme Eligibility and Benefits

Households consuming up to 100 units of electricity per month are eligible for the free solar systems. The government will bear all costs, including the solar systems and their installation. This move is expected to significantly alleviate electricity expenses for many families, promoting the use of renewable energy.

To maintain transparency and fairness, the program excludes households involved in electricity theft, meter tampering, or other fraudulent activities. This ensures that only deserving households benefit from the free solar initiative.

Roshan Gharana Program (How to Apply)

Eligible households can easily register by sending their bill reference number and identity card number via SMS to 8800. The National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) will verify the data, which will then be forwarded to the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for further validation.

After the validation process, the final list of eligible households will be sent to the district administration for implementation. The Department of Energy has also received approval to establish a dedicated project management unit to oversee the program’s successful execution.

Benefits of Solar System in Pakistan

This free solar initiative not only aims to reduce electricity costs but also promotes sustainable energy use. By transitioning to solar power, Punjab is taking a significant step towards a greener future.

The Roshan Gharana Program represents a major effort by the Punjab government to support low-income households and encourage the adoption of renewable energy. This initiative underscores the province’s commitment to sustainability and economic relief for its residents.

By integrating free solar systems into low-consumption households, Punjab sets a precedent for renewable energy initiatives across the country. The comprehensive registration and validation process ensures that the benefits reach those who need them most, paving the way for a brighter and more sustainable future.
