Govt Raises Petrol Price by Rs 2.10, Diesel By Rs 0.30 Per Litre

The government on Friday raised the price of petrol by Rs2.10 per litre and that of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Re0.30 per litre.

Following the revision, petrol will retail at Rs392.76 per litre, while HSD will cost Rs399.64 per litre. The government continues to levy Rs114 per litre in taxes and duties on petrol and Rs100 per litre on diesel.

The Petroleum Division said the price revision was necessitated by global developments, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and incidentals.

On Thursday, the government increased the petrol price by Rs3.26 to Rs390.66, and reduced high-speed diesel by Rs1.01 to Rs399.34 per litre.

Meanwhile, oil prices fell more than $3 and European gasoil futures dropped over 4% on Friday after reports of talks in Europe on additional diesel and crude stock releases, easing concerns over tight global energy supplies.
