KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Hassan Naqvi has informed that new prices for flour in the city have been implemented.
The price for local stock (No. 2.5) Flour wholesale is set at KP 110/kg and at retail at KP 113/kg, while for fine-stock flour the wholesale price is now KP 118/kg and the retail price KP 121/kg, and for all new mill flour (Chakki) the price is set at KP 145/kg.
The Commissioner advised all retailers to immediately prominently display the official price list in their shops and warned N/A action against retailers that either violate the new rates established by the Commissioner or fail to have the price list conspicuously displayed.
Earlier in March this year, Flour mill owners had announced a significant reduction in flour and fine flour prices following the arrival of the new wheat crop in the market.
The price of wheat has fallen by Rs. 10 per kilogram, and the decrease has led to a cut of up to Rs. 12 per kilogram in flour and fine flour prices.
Experts believe that the increased availability of the new wheat crop in the market will help stabilise prices, offering much-needed relief to consumers affected by rising inflation.
