Details Revealed: Brother-in-Law Arrested in Surjani Town Mother and Three Children Murder Case

Police have detained the brother-in-law of the deceased woman’s husband, who was found dead, along with her three children at their home in Karachi’s Surjani Town.

According to DIG West Irfan Baloch, Humayun, the brother-in-law of Danish (the victim of Mehwish’s husband), confessed to the crime and also made sensational revelations:

  • He got off near Danish’s house in Qingchi and walked to his house from there. He had turned off his mobile phones earlier.
  • He reached their home at 2:00 pm on the day of the incident. As Humayun’s relative, he could come and go from the house.
  • He allegedly attempted to rape Mehwish. When she resisted, he stabbed her with a rod and killed her with a crowbar.
  • When an 18-month-old girl nearby started crying, he picked her up and threw her against the wall.
  • When the two children who had gone to the madrassa returned around 3 pm, Humayun opened the door. When they entered the house, he also killed them.
  • He confessed to stabbing the four with a knife.
  • He then washed himself in the house’s washroom and dressed up.
  • He cleaned up the evidence and escaped from the house at around 6 pm.
  • He threw the murder weapon, a serpent, into a drain while returning home (police are searching for the weapon).
  • When he reached his home in New Karachi, his wife informed him of the incident.

According to investigators, the detained suspect had also reportedly lived in the victims’ house as a tenant in the past.

The bodies were found inside a house in Sector 7-D, Surjani Town, on Monday night. The burial of the victims took place on Tuesday evening.

Police Trace Suspect During Investigation

Investigators gathered information from Mehwish’s husband Danish, relatives, local residents and other people connected to the family. The information helped police identify and detain the suspect.

Police had also questioned Mehwish’s husband as part of the investigation. He told investigators that he had gone out to drop his employer somewhere. When he returned home, nobody opened the door despite his repeated calls to his wife.

SSP West Tariq Elahi Mastooi visited the crime scene after the incident. Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar also took notice of the killings and sought a detailed report from SSP West. He directed police to examine all aspects of the case.
