Mobile and Internet Services May Be Suspended on Sept 26-27

Mobile phone and internet services are expected to face restrictions in parts of Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Attock on September 26 and 27 ahead of the PTI’s planned September 27 long march. Major roads leading towards Islamabad have also been closed

According to sources, mobile phone services will be suspended in parts of Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Attock due to security concerns. The move is aimed at maintaining law and order during the planned protest activity.

The issue was also discussed at a high-level security meeting held several days ago. The meeting reviewed possible closures of motorways, the GT Road and other routes leading towards Islamabad.

The Punjab Home Department had separately asked the federal government to restrict mobile and internet services in selected areas of Rawalpindi and Attock. The request included reducing network signals at specific locations. Areas named in the request include Brahma, Bahtar, Taxila, Wah Saddar and Chakri.

Major Roads Closed

The National Highways and Motorway Police has confirmed closures on major routes connecting Islamabad with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The M-1 is closed in both directions between the Islamabad Toll Plaza and Chhachh Interchange. The M-14 is closed between Hakla and Kundal. The GT Road N-5 is also closed in both directions at Attock Khurd. The closures will remain in place until further notice, according to the NHMP.

Other reports say additional routes and interchanges have also been closed as security preparations continue. These include sections around Brahma Bahtar, Burhan, Ghazi and Chach.

Citizens travelling towards Islamabad and Rawalpindi should check the latest traffic advisories before starting their journey. If mobile services are suspended, people should make essential calls and travel arrangements in advance.

Further restrictions may follow as authorities prepare for the September 27 march.
