Pakistan August 2026 Public Holidays: Citizens May Get Up to 12 Holidays

Pakistanis could enjoy the highest number of holidays of the year in August 2026, with up to 12 holidays expected during the month, according to the official government holiday calendar.

Federal public holidays and regular weekend breaks will combine to create opportunities for travel, family time and leisure.

Independence Day to Bring Three-Day Long Weekend

By official calendar, the Independence Day of Pakistan will be celebrated on August 14, 2026 (Friday). Since the national holiday is on a Friday, it is presumed that it will result in a three-day long weekend, with the following weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

The extended vacation will probably be favorable for families who are considering traveling domestically and for those who are celebrating Independence Day around the country.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi Holiday Expected on August 25

The government of Pakistan has announced another public holiday on Tuesday 25th August 2026 in the annual list of public, bank and optional holidays, in the name of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (ﷺ).

The holiday will be determined by the official notification as well as the moon sighting (if applicable).

Total Holidays in August 2026

August 2026 is expected to include:

• 10 weekend holidays (five Saturdays and five Sundays)
• 1 public holiday for Independence Day on August 14
• 1 public holiday for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (ﷺ) on August 25

This brings the total number of holidays to 12, making August one of the most holiday-filled months of 2026.

Private Sector Holiday Schedule May Differ

The list of public holidays is observed in government offices, but it may differ in the private sector.
