In a recent development, the Sindh High Court has intervened to challenge the ban imposed by PEMRA on broadcasting speeches by Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of legal representation from the federal government, the court has suspended the ban. This legal move follows PEMRA’s decision to ban Imran Khan’s speeches, citing his alleged use of provocative language against state institutions.
Simultaneously, an accountability court in Islamabad has issued arrest warrants for Imran Khan in relation to the Toshakhana and Al-Qadir Trust cases. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is pushing for immediate compliance with the warrants, aiming for Khan’s arrest today and providing him with an explanation for the charges against him.
Meanwhile, Bushra Bibi, the former first lady, faced an extensive 11-question questionnaire from NAB during her appearance at the NAB Rawalpindi office. The questionnaire focused on various aspects of the Al-Qadir Trust case, including her association with Farah Gogi, the establishment of Al-Qadir Trust, financial affairs, and interactions with Malik Riaz.
This unfolding legal saga involving Imran Khan’s ban, arrest warrants, and Bushra Bibi’s NAB questioning presents a multifaceted legal landscape within Pakistan’s political sphere.
