Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan have declined lucrative offers from illegal betting entities despite the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) collaborating with surrogate betting companies.
The PCB’s association with Dafa News has allowed over 150 illegal surrogate betting sites in Pakistan, leading some PSL franchises to press players to endorse illicit betting companies.
Babar Azam rejected a Rs250 million yearly contract, and Muhammad Rizwan refused a Rs100 million offer from a betting firm, citing their opposition to such sponsorships.
Emails confirm their refusal of these offers. Babar Azam’s representative stated their stance against betting brands, echoing Rizwan’s rejection.
The PCB allegedly granted image rights to these betting companies without players’ consent, with some PSL franchises forcing players to wear surrogate betting logos.
A PCB spokesperson denies any current association with surrogate betting companies, despite allegations. Surrogate betting companies have infiltrated Pakistan’s cricket scene since 2021.
This news raises concerns about the integrity of cricket sponsorships and the need for transparency in the sport.
