Can You Pass the CSS Exam with Just 4 Days of Preparation? Amina Khan’s Claim Sparks Debate

Pakistani actress, director, and social activist Amina Khan has become the center of an online debate after claiming that she passed the Central Superior Services (CSS) examination with only four days of preparation during her younger years.

The statement was made during his recent appearance in a private television programme, and soon spread like wildfire on social media, leading many to wonder whether such an achievement is feasible under the circumstances of Pakistan’s most competitive civil service exam.

Amina Khan Says She Passed CSS with Four Days of Preparation

During the interview, Amina Khan said that she got ready for the CSS exam and was simultaneously working on several TV drama projects. She told reporters she had just four days to study for the exam, as she was busy shooting film.

She also stated that she appeared in eight papers and passed the examination despite the short period of time she got for preparation. But she chose not to join the civil service and went on to pursue her career in the entertainment industry of Pakistan.

Her comment was soon picked up by the media, and snippets of her interview began to appear on social media.

Can You Prepare for CSS in Just 4 Days?

Most education experts and successful candidates of the CSS exam agree that the four-day period of study is an unrealistic timeframe for most candidates, and it is therefore false to claim that you can prepare adequately for the examination within this time.

The CSS exam is held every year and is considered to be one of the most challenging competitive exams in Pakistan. It aims at testing the candidates’ analytical capability, writing ability, subject knowledge, knowledge of current affairs, Pakistan affairs, English and subject matter knowledge in compulsory and optional papers.

The preparation for the examination takes about 6 months to 2 years, with structured study plans, essay/péris practice, regular newspaper reading and attempting mock exams.

An expert says a last minute revision of four days is not enough to pass the exam, except for a highly intelligent person with a lot of knowledge.

Social Media Questions the Claim

Following Amina Khan’s remarks, social media users responded with mixed reactions.

Her confidence and intelligence were admired by many, and she had some skeptics as well.

There were some who asked how anybody could pass one of the toughest exams after studying for just four days.

Others raised the issue that the CSS examination is a series of compulsory and optional papers, and some users mentioned they had usually appeared in more than eight papers, thus some further discussion about the correctness and background of Khan’s statement.

Humorous comments also surfaced, with one user joking that perhaps she had appeared in the CSS exam “as part of a drama.”

How Difficult Is the CSS Examination?

The Central Superior Services (CSS) examination is conducted by Pakistan’s Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) to recruit officers for the country’s top civil services.

The examination is known for:

  • A vast and diverse syllabus
  • Multiple compulsory and optional subjects
  • Extensive essay and English writing requirements
  • Low annual pass percentages
  • Competitive merit-based selection process

Each year, thousands of candidates appear for the test and only a fraction of them clear the written paper and become a part of CSS as one of the most competitive career paths in Pakistan.

Amina Khan Yet to Respond

As online discussion continues, Amina Khan has not publicly addressed the questions surrounding her statement.

It is unclear whether the comments were made about her final revision before the examination or about her entire preparation. The claim is sure to be a subject of debate among both CSS aspirants and social media fans for the time being.
