Indian Media Spreads Fake Grave Image to Defame Pakistan; Fact-Check Reveals the Truth

Indian media outlets circulated an unverified image of a locked grave, claiming it is a common practice in Pakistan to protect the bodies of ‘daughters’ from being raped. This is a baseless and untrue assertion that spreads misinformation about Pakistan.

Several major Indian news outlets, such as ANI, Times of India, News18, Times Now, NDTV, and ThePrint, ran the false story.

The misleading image was widely shared on social media and originally tweeted by Robert Spencer, the director of Jihad Watch.

After cross-checking the image using Google Maps street view services, fact-checkers determined that the picture originated from a cemetery located opposite Masjid-e-Salar Mulk, a mosque in Darab Jung Colony, Madannapet, Hyderabad, India.

According to the news report, families have padlocked the graves at this cemetery to prevent further burials from taking place at the final resting place of their loved ones.

In response to the false claims made by Indian media, Pakistani netizens have urged them to shift their focus towards addressing the escalating number of cases involving violence against women in India. They have emphasized the importance of avoiding false claims as a means to defame and target Pakistan.
