If a traveler regularly takes medication to treat a medical condition, it is essential to check before traveling whether that medicine is legally permitted to be brought into the UAE.
According to the relevant guidelines, travelers should carry a valid prescription from a qualified doctor along with their medication. Particular care is required with medicines that contain ingredients that cause drowsiness, reduce anxiety or stress, or affect the nervous system. Travelers should obtain information about such medicines in advance.
What precautions should you take when carrying medicines?
- Confirm before traveling that your medication is legally permitted in the UAE.
- Carry a valid and clearly written prescription from your doctor.
