Eid Milad-un-Nabi Holiday Announced Across Pakistan for August 26

The federal government has declared Wednesday, August 26, 2026, a nationwide public holiday for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th Rabi-ul-Awwal 1448 AH).

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formally approved the nationwide holiday prompting the Cabinet Division to issue an official notification. Under this directive, all public offices, educational institutions, commercial centers, and financial markets, including the Pakistan Stock Exchange, will remain closed on Wednesday.

The official date follows the decision of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, led by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad. The committee announced last week that the Rabi-ul-Awwal moon was not sighted on August 13, fixing 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal on August 26.
