BISP Quarterly Payment Line Increased to Rs18,000: Major Update Announced with Digital Wallet System

The federal government has announced a major update for millions of beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Programme (Benazir Income Support Programme), increasing the quarterly installment to Rs18,000 and introducing a fully digital payment system starting from July 2026.

BISP Quarterly Installment Increased to Rs18,000

The government has approved a revision in the financial assistance provided under the Benazir Income Support Programme, BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid said on Wednesday. In the new update, eligible families will be paid Rs18,000 per quarter, which is intended to provide more robust financial support to low-income families throughout Pakistan.

This increase has been part of a wider plan to boost social protection and provide support for families facing inflationary pressures, particularly for women-led households on the programme.

BISP Digital Wallet System 2026 – All Payments Going Digital

A significant reform initiative by the government has been announced, stating that effective from July 2026, all BISP payments will be made directly to beneficiaries via the digital wallet system (Digital Wallet Accounts) rather than through conventional cash distribution channels.

The move will remove the need to rely on banks and ATM cards and end long lines at payment centers, said Senator Rubina Khalid.

Under the new system:

  • Payments will be transferred directly to beneficiaries’ mobile-linked wallets
  • Accounts can be opened using a Benazir mobile SIM
  • All BISP welfare programs will use the same digital payment system

End of Traditional Payment System in BISP

In past, the payments were made in BISP centers or through their own ATM cards. In the new BISP digital payment system 2026, however, these methods will be phased out over time to ensure transparency, minimize fraud, and facilitate direct cash transfers.

BISP Transparency and Social Protection Goals

BISP chairperson said the programme was intended to provide dignity, financial independence and social protection to the needy families. She also dismissed negative rumours about the programme as misleading and harmful.
