Dr. Sarang Memon, a dedicated physician, met a tragic end on Dr. Dawood Pota Road, Karachi. This targeted shooting near the Mehran Hotel has sparked fresh concerns regarding the safety of healthcare professionals in Sindh. Investigators are currently analyzing CCTV footage to track the assailants involved in this high-profile case.
Gunmen intercepted a rickshaw near Karachi’s Mehran Hotel late Monday night. They targeted Dr. Sarang Memon, a physician serving in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The doctor was returning from Cantt Railway Station with his wife. A car trailed their rickshaw before shooters opened fire at close range.

Dr. Memon sustained four gunshot wounds to his chest and legs. His wife, also a doctor, rushed him to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). Despite immediate medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries within twenty minutes.
Police Investigation and Motive
DIG South Syed Asad Raza confirmed that the attackers did not steal any valuables. This detail shifts the investigation toward a targeted killing rather than a robbery. The Crime Scene Unit (CSU) recovered spent casings from the site on Dr. Dawood Pota Road.
Authorities are now scanning CCTV feeds from Sharea Faisal. They aim to identify the vehicle used in the pursuit. Initial reports suggest personal enmity as a possible motive, though a formal FIR awaits the family’s return from the burial.
The victim hailed from Badin. This incident marks another tragedy for the family; Dr. Memon had previously lost two brothers to separate incidents of violence and accidental death. His body has been moved to his native town for final rites.
