Eid ul Adha Gas Timings 2026: SSGC Announces Temporary Relief

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a temporary adjustment in its gas load shedding schedule, providing relief to consumers during the early hours of Sehri in observance of the Day of Arafah. The new timetable will result in some short-term relief for people cooking early in the morning, but interruptions in food supplies are likely to follow later in the day.

An official update says that gas supply will not be interrupted during the Sehri hours as a special arrangement for the observance of the prayers. Gas will be available at 3 o’clock in the morning on May 26, giving the citizens enough time to prepare meals before the fasting.

The company said, however, that gas load shedding would restart the same day at 10:00 AM with the return of normal load shedding restrictions throughout the distribution network.

Possible Load Shedding During Eid-ul-Adha

Sources indicate that during Eid-ul-Adha 2026, gas load shedding is also expected due to the change in pattern of industrial demand. On the other hand, SSGC has not yet finalized its gas plan for the Eid period and consumers are still not sure of the continuous availability.

The authorities point out that during Eid holidays some industrial units are shut down and this may have an effect on the supply management strategies. A formal announcement for the gas supply of Eid is expected in the coming days.

SSGC Statement and Consumer Impact

The adjustment is part of a routine seasonal gas management process to balance domestic demand during periods of high gas demand. The relief of the Sehri-time was welcomed by residents, but there are concerns about the prolonged cuts in the day.

Proper planning and advance public notification of utilities such as the SSGC could minimise disruption to the public, particularly during significant religious events, including Ramadan-related practices and Eid festivals, energy experts say.

Why This Update Matters

The shortfall in gas supply underscores the persistent energy management issues in Pakistan, especially in urban areas such as Karachi where demand peaks during the early morning hours. Consumers are reminded to check with official SSGC announcements for any further changes.
