Karachi Central Jail Holds First-Ever Convocation for Prisoners

Alkhidmat Karachi and the Karachi Central Jail teamed up to throw a first-of-its-kind graduation party for inmate students! This historic event celebrated 248 inmates who aced courses in computers, graphic design, and even languages like English and Chinese.

Everyone who graduated got certificates and awards, and the top students walked away with a cool 25,000 rupees and some special gifts too.

Naveed Ali Baig, the big boss at Alkhidmat, even announced they’re setting up a fancy new institute inside the jail to offer even more job training programs. The special guest, Sindh’s Minister of Prisons Ali Hassan Zardari, gave Alkhidmat a big thumbs up for their work and said he wants these educational programs to be offered in all the jails across Sindh.

Minister Zardari said these programs are all about giving inmates the skills they need to get back on their feet after they’re released. He asked everyone to show these graduates some love and support for pursuing studies for a brighter future, even while behind bars. The ceremony also featured some inspiring speeches from important folks like Alkhidmat’s CEO, the head honcho of Sindh’s prisons, the jail’s warden, and the director of community services.
