Karachi Police Officers Identified in Khayaban-e-Bukhari DHA Brawl Inquiry

New details have emerged regarding the police officers and officials involved in a violent altercation and subsequent cover-up in Karachi’s Defense Khayaban-e-Bukhari area.

An inquiry team led by SSP Investigation South has started investigating a violent altercation that took place on August 21 in an apartment building in DHA Phase 6.

Two officers seen coming down the stairs with the family are identified as Haider and Saqib. They belong to the Korangi district and are officially posted at the Korangi police station. The head muharrar at the Korangi police station recorded their statements.

Other officers who came up the stairs belonged to the Madadgaar 15 rescue crew. They arrived at the scene after receiving a call.

The Attacking Woman

Viral CCTV footage showed an influential woman, identified as Maryam Ali Raza, repeatedly attacking neighbors, a woman and her brother, with a dumbbell.

According to local residents, Maryam is a relative of SSP Korangi Fida Hussain Janori and allegedly used a government vehicle. She has also beaten several watchmen to death by the police and got them fired. She runs the plaza’s union and does not allow anyone else to use the elevator in the building, according to locals.

Initially, Maryam had filed a false case under kidnapping and theft charges against the victims. Police have now dropped the false charges of kidnapping and theft from the case registered at Darakhshan police station after reviewing the video evidence and said that the challan in the case will not be submitted until the investigation is completed.

The Broken CCTV Camera

A plainclothes officer, seen breaking a CCTV camera during the altercation, allegedly belongs to the Korangi police force and used a government weapon to smash the camera.

It raised major questions about why a Korangi police officer was operating within the jurisdiction of the Darakhshan police station.

Darakhshan Police Involvement

Officers who dragged a man into a police vehicle during the fight belong to the Darakhshan police station and Madagaar 15. These officers include ASI Aftab Mangi, Safdar, and driver Yousuf.

Police stated they had to forcibly drag the man to the vehicle because he offered strong resistance.
