Karachi: Suspect Arrested in Surjani Town Mother and Three Children Murder Case

Police have detained a close acquaintance of a woman and her three children who were found dead at their home in Karachi’s Surjani Town, as investigators probe a possible personal grudge behind the killings.
The bodies were found inside a house in Sector 7-D, Surjani Town, on Monday night. The victims were identified as Mehwish and her three children. Police said all four suffered head injuries caused by a sharp-edged weapon and a heavy object.
According to investigators, the detained suspect was a close acquaintance of the family and frequently visited their home. He had also reportedly lived in the victims’ house as a tenant in the past
Police are investigating whether a personal dispute or grudge was behind the killings. The suspect has been taken into custody for questioning as investigators work to establish the circumstances of the crime.
Police Trace Suspect During Investigation
Investigators gathered information from Mehwish’s husband Danish, relatives, local residents and other people connected to the family. The information helped police identify and detain the suspect.
Police had also questioned Mehwish’s husband as part of the investigation. He told investigators that he had gone out to drop his employer somewhere. When he returned home, nobody opened the door despite his repeated calls to his wife.
The bodies were recovered on Monday night, while the funeral and burial of the victims took place on Tuesday evening.
SSP West Tariq Elahi Mastooi visited the crime scene after the incident. Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar also took notice of the killings and sought a detailed report from SSP West. He directed police to examine all aspects of the case, collect evidence and take action if evidence confirmed the involvement of any suspect.
