In a major relief for holiday travelers, Pakistan Railways has announced the operation of three special Eidul Azha trains to accommodate the growing number of passengers travelling across the country ahead of Eid holidays.
The special Eid trains are designed to operate on major intercity lines and feature 7-8 coaches to alleviate strain on regular train services during the peak travel periods, according to railway officials.
Pakistan Railways Eid Special Trains Schedule 2026
As per the announced schedule:
- The first Eid special train will depart from Quetta to Karachi on May 23, 2026.
- The second special train will operate from Karachi to Rawalpindi on May 24, 2026, passing through major cities including Multan, Faisalabad, and Sargodha.
- The third Eid special train will run from Karachi to Lahore on May 25, 2026.
The project is intended to help commuters get home to their hometowns for Eidul Azha and to help keep the heavy loads on the rails during the festival season, said railway authorities.
Peshawar Not Included in Eid Special Train Operations
In spite of the increased travel plans for Eid, it is reported that Peshawar is not on the list of Eid train plans for this year.
There are no direct Eid special trains announced from Karachi, Lahore or Quetta to Peshawar, so people travelling to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during holidays may be disappointed.
Eidul Azha Travel Rush Expected Across Pakistan
Eidul Azha is an annual festival that is accompanied by large numbers of travelers who go from one city to another to celebrate with their families. As anticipated, Pakistan Railways’ announcement of special trains is likely to ease the burden of passengers facing a shortage of available seats and increased transportation demand.
Passengers are advised to book tickets early due to expected heavy rush on all Eid special train routes.
