Pakistan Weather Today: Severe Heatwave Continues as Sibi Hits 49°C Across Country

A severe heatwave continues to grip Pakistan, with most parts of the country experiencing extremely hot and dry weather conditions. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), temperatures remained exceptionally high on Tuesday, with Sibi recording the highest temperature in the country at a scorching 49 degrees Celsius.
The current Pakistan weather update has brought to light the continued heat wave impacting various areas of the country, posing health risks, water shortages, and a surge in electricity demand as millions of people attempt to cope with the sweltering summer heat.
Hottest Cities in Pakistan Today
The PMD disclosed that Noorpur Thal and Dadu had recorded 48°C while Okara, Bhakkar, Jacobabad, Sukkur, Khairpur and Turbat had experienced 47°C.
Several other major cities also witnessed extremely high temperatures:
- Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Sargodha – 45°C
- Lahore, Jhelum – 44°C
- Peshawar, Multan – 43°C
- Islamabad – 42°C
- Muzaffarabad – 40°C
- Quetta – 39°C
- Karachi, Gilgit – 37°C
Meanwhile, Skardu remained comparatively cooler, recording a maximum temperature of 29°C.
Pakistan Heatwave Expected to Persist
Pakistan’s weather experts have predicted that hot and dry weather is expected in most areas of the country in the next few days. The general public has been urged to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and drink water to minimise risk of heat-related illness.
Vulnerable people such as children, elderly and outdoor workers have also been advised to take preventive measures due to the high and above-average temperature.
Weather Forecast Pakistan: Safety Measures During Extreme Heat
Residents are advised to:
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
- Avoid direct sunlight between 11 AM and 4 PM.
- Wear light-colored and loose-fitting clothing.
- Limit strenuous outdoor activities.
- Check on elderly family members and children regularly.
This week Pakistan is one of the hottest regions in South Asia as the temperatures are reaching 50°C mark in some parts of the country.
