Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the Punjab Free Electric Bikes Scheme 2026, under which 100,000 free electric bikes will be distributed among students across the province. The initiative aims to improve access to education by providing affordable and eco-friendly transportation for students facing daily commuting challenges.
The announcement was made during a ceremony in Arifwala, where the chief minister also unveiled several major education initiatives, including free laptops, merit scholarships, and AI labs in educational institutions.

The Punjab Free Electric Bikes Scheme 2026 is designed to help students who travel long distances to schools, colleges, and universities. The government believes that providing free electric bikes will reduce transportation costs, improve attendance, and encourage students to continue their education without financial barriers.
The initiative also supports Punjab’s environmental goals by promoting clean and sustainable transportation across the province.
Who Can Apply for Free Electric Bikes?
Although the Punjab government has not yet released the final eligibility criteria, applicants are expected to meet conditions similar to previous CM e-Bike schemes.
Expected eligibility includes:
- Students enrolled in recognized educational institutions in Punjab
- Punjab domicile holders
- At least 18 years of age (subject to official policy)
- Possession of a learner’s permit or valid motorcycle driving licence if required

Registration for Punjab Free Electric Bikes Scheme
The Punjab government has confirmed the launch of the scheme but has not yet started the registration process. Officials have also not announced the application deadline, selection method, or distribution schedule.
Once registrations begin, students are expected to apply through the official CM e-Bikes Scheme Portal and the Punjab Government website.
Applicants are advised to keep the following documents ready:
- CNIC or B-Form
- Punjab domicile
- Student ID card or enrollment certificate
- Recent passport-size photograph
- Learner’s permit or valid motorcycle driving licence (if required)
Other Major Education Initiatives
Alongside the Punjab Free Electric Bikes Scheme 2026, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced several other education-focused projects, including:
- Distribution of 100,000 laptops for deserving students
- 50,000 merit-based scholarships for higher education
- Rs40 billion allocated for improving public schools
- Construction of new classrooms and infrastructure upgrades
- Establishment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) labs in educational institutions
- Expansion of electric bus services for students across Punjab
