Punjab Launches Free Livestock Scheme for Women Across 13 Districts

The Punjab Free Livestock Scheme for Women 2026 has been launched under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to support rural women through free livestock distribution. The program’s objective is to enhance livelihoods and provide enables and sustainable livelihood opportunities to the needy women in 13 Districts of Punjab.

The program aims to help rural women gain financial independence by offering them livestock without any cost so that they can earn a stable income by running their farm businesses with the help of livestock.

Punjab Free Livestock Scheme 2026 Begins in 13 Districts

During the first phase, free livestock will handed out to eligible women in selected districts such as Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Layyah, Kot Addu, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Taunsa, Bahawalnagar, Khanewal, Vehari and other notified areas.

The Punjab government stated that the move is to boost the rural economy by enabling the financially weaker women to become self-reliant by owning livestock.

Eligibility Criteria for Punjab Free Livestock Scheme

Women applying for the Punjab Free Livestock Scheme must meet the following conditions:

• Applicants must be rural women.
• Preference will given to divorced and widowed women.
• The maximum age limit is 55 years.
• Divorced or widowed status must be verified by the Punjab Social Protection Authority.
• Women who have already received livestock under any government scheme during the last five years are not eligible.

The eligibility criteria have added to ensure transparency and ensure that the assistance reaches the deserving beneficiaries.

Facilitation Desks Established for Applicants

To streamline the process of application making, the government of Punjab has set up Chief Minister Facilitation Desks at veterinary hospitals and animal hospitals in the nearby areas. The centres will guide, facilitate and disseminate information on the scheme to eligible women.

Maryam Nawaz Highlights Women’s Economic Empowerment

In this regard, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that it is very important to empower rural women to eradicate poverty and enhance the standard of living. She said that women who own livestock will have a solid income and also be able to support the rural economy, while being able to bring long-term financial stability.
