Rana Shamim To-Be Indicted On January 7 by IHC

The Islamabad High Court on Tuesday announced to indict former Gilgit-Baltistan chief justice Rana Shamim and other accused persons on January 7 next year in a contempt of court case.

A one-judge bench headed by IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard the case regarding the publication of an affidavit levelling allegations against former chief justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar.

During the hearing, a sealed envelope containing Shamim’s affidavit was presented in court. It had been received last week by the IHC.

“Why shouldn’t the court decide to indict him in the contempt case?” CJ Minallah questioned.

According to sources, Shamim had accused chief justice (retd) Nisar of judicial manipulation.

Shamim and journalist Ansar Abbasi including others were present during the hearing.
