Tourism In Pakistan: K2 Base Camp Receives Internet Connectivity

The 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) is now installed at the K2 base camp to promote the tourism in Pakistan. The BTS site at Concordia is named on Ali Sadpara, the late mountaineer who was died during the winter expedition of mountain.

The aim of decision is to offer better communication facilities to trekkers and mountaineers. Internet access and mobile coverage will be crucial for trekking groups and mountaineers to remain connected with friends and family members during the emergency situations.

SCO or Special Communication Organisation made the site operational to ensure the provision of communication facilities at K2 base camp. In addition, it will also provide assistance in the weather monitoring.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and telecom operators are focusing on enhancing telecom services in areas with great potential for tourism. PM Imran Khan inaugurated the site during his tour to Gilgit Baltistan.
