Mah Rang Baloch, a well-known nationalist leader, was recently stopped at Karachi Airport while trying to fly abroad. Sources say she was about to travel to the U.S. via a foreign airline, but immigration officials blocked her because her name was on their stop list.
Afterward, Mah Rang took to X (formerly Twitter) to share what happened. She said she was headed to the U.S. for the Time Magazine Gala, where she was nominated among the 100 emerging influential leaders globally. According to her, there was no clear reason for stopping her, and she believes her fundamental rights were violated. She emphasized that the authorities gave no legal justification for preventing her from leaving the country, calling it a serious breach of her right to travel.
In her post, Mah Rang Baloch pointed out that this act shows the state’s fear and insecurity about the Baloch voice. She feels that stopping her was an attempt to suppress the international spread of information about the issues in Balochistan, including the ongoing human rights violations. She made it clear that the goal was to silence her and block the global community from knowing the reality of what was happening in her homeland.
Mah Rang didn’t hold back in accusing the government of trying to crush her freedom of speech and movement. She sees this as part of a larger trend of cracking down on Baloch activists and human rights defenders. But despite the airport incident, she vowed to keep fighting and not back down from raising her voice against these restrictions.
