Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood addressed a tense moment during the post-match press conference after Pakistan’s 120-run defeat to the West Indies in Multan. The second Test loss, which leveled the series, left fans and critics questioning the team’s performance.
During the press conference, a local reporter asked Shan Masood whether he planned to step down as captain or wait for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take action. Initially skipping the question, Masood was pressed further, leading him to emphasize the importance of respect.
“You’re entitled to your opinion, but your question lacked respect,” Shan Masood firmly stated. “Criticism is fine, but it must come with respect. As players, we work hard to represent Pakistan and achieve positive results,” he added.
The Pakistan skipper explained the team’s struggles during the match, citing missed opportunities. Pakistan failed to dismiss the West Indies lower order despite reducing them to 38/7 and later 64/8 on Day 1. Gudakesh Motie’s crucial half-century extended the West Indies’ lead, giving them control.
In the final innings, Pakistan’s batting collapsed under pressure from Jomel Warrican’s five-wicket haul. Masood acknowledged the need to improve in dismissing lower-order batters and capitalizing on key moments in Test cricket.
