US President Donald Trump has claimed that his life is under threat, alleging that he is at the top of Iran’s hit list. The remarks came during his visit to Ankara, where he addressed the media alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Trump told reporters that the job of the US president is one of the most dangerous in the world. He claimed his actions as president had placed him on their target list, and that the threats would not deter him in his policies.
Trump Says US Does Not Want a Long War With Iran
Discussing the ongoing tensions, Trump said the United States does not seek a prolonged war with Iran. However, he claimed that Iran had attacked ships, forcing the US to respond with overwhelming military strength.
Trump said that if Iran attacks again in the future, it will be “ten times stronger. Also, he added, Iran changes would come in the near future, saying that Washington did not want a long war in Iran.
Trump Declares Iran Ceasefire Over
Trump also declared that the ceasefire with Iran has ended, calling any attempt to negotiate a new agreement with Tehran “a waste of time.”
He said Iran had been responsible for the attacks by drones and rockets on ships and had been practicing decades of hostile behavior against Tehran’s leadership. Trump reiterated that his bottom line has always been to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear threat, not to change the regime.
Trump Makes Strong Claims About Iran’s Military
Trump asserted that Iran’s military strength greatly diminished in the course of the media interaction. He claimed that Iran’s military forces basically eliminated and that Tehran would no longer pose a threat to the Middle East.
He also condemned Iran’s leadership as being untrustworthy and its repeated violations of international agreements in the last 47 years.
No Independent Verification
Trump’s latest comments come as tensions persist between the United States and Iran. Many of his claims about the capabilities, leadership and latest strikes of Iran’s military have not yet independently confirmed and Tehran has dismissed such claims in the past.
