The Strait of Hormuz has once again become the center of regional tensions after Iran declared that the strategic waterway will not return to its pre-war state. The statement comes amid growing concerns over security in one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes.
Iranian Armed Forces spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari said the Strait of Hormuz will not return to the situation prior to the war. He asserted that the U.S. is worried about Iran’s sovereignty over the significant maritime corridor.
The US is trying to destabilize security in the Strait of Hormuz, where much of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas travel, Zolfaghari said. The comments come amid ongoing disagreements between Tehran and Washington on regional security and maritime activities.
The Iranian military spokesman further urged the Gulf countries not to let the United States base its air force on their soil for attacking Iran. He expressed concern that such cooperation may further fuel instability in the region.
The new remarks have brought the Strait of Hormuz back into focus globally as an important route for international energy commerce. Disruption or escalation in the area could impact global oil markets, shipping routes, and regional stability.
