US Announces Pakistani Babies Born Will Automatically Receive Citizenship

Pakistani parents living in the United States of America will continue to see their newborn children receive automatic US citizenship.

The development came after the US Supreme Court upheld birthright citizenship and rejected an executive order by President Donald Trump that aimed to restrict the long-standing constitutional right.

In its majority ruling, the court said children born on US soil remain protected by the Citizenship Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, which grants citizenship to people born in the country and subject to its jurisdiction.

The policy continues to apply to babies born in the United States, allowing them to obtain a US passport and enjoy the benefits of citizenship.

However, while the child becomes a US citizen by birth, the parents do not automatically receive US citizenship or permanent residency through the birth of their child and must continue to follow US immigration laws separately.
