The Metro Bus service has been shut down in parts of Rawalpindi. If you usually rely on this service, be prepared for some serious disruptions. As per the authorities’ orders, the Metro Bus won’t be running between Saddar and IJP Road today. However, from IJP Road to the Pak Secretariat, the buses will still be on the move, so it’s not a complete halt, but a major inconvenience for sure.
Apart from the Metro Bus closure, the government has also gone ahead and blocked 24 different entry and exit points in and out of Islamabad. They’ve placed containers at these locations, making it tough to travel in or out of the capital. If you’re thinking of heading that way, you might want to rethink your plans for the day.
On top of that, the twin cities’ police have been given full control to enforce these security measures. This means if you’re on a motorbike, avoid double riding because a ban has been imposed on it for the next two days. The ban came into effect at midnight, and anyone caught breaking the rule is going to face strict action.
Meanwhile, preparations to close Faizabad are also underway. Machinery is already being placed there, along with containers blocking key roads like Murree Road and the Islamabad Expressway. In fact, the roads are being double-blocked with containers, so don’t be surprised if you see things slowing down to a halt.
Security is on high alert, especially in Rawalpindi, where a force of 4,000 officers has been deployed to manage the situation. It’s a tense time, so it’s better to stay informed and avoid unnecessary travel today.
