Dr Nabiha Ali Khan Files Khula Case Against Husband Haris Hamid Khokhar in Lahore

Renowned social activist and psychologist Dr Nabiha Ali Khan, also known as Kanwal Ali Khan, has filed a Khula case against her husband, Haris Hamid Khokhar, in the Lahore Family Court, seeking the dissolution of her marriage.

The petitioner filed the petition before the Court of the Senior Civil Judge (Family Court Powers), Lahore, through her lawyer, Muhammad Mudassar Ch., Advocate High Court and Ali Usman Diyal, Advocate on July 20, 2026.

Dr Nabiha Ali Khan Seeks Khula in Lahore

Dr. Nabiha Ali Khan, who resides in Park View City Lahore, and Haris Hamid Khokhar who lives in Johar Town Lahore, were married on 7 November 2025 as per petition before the court. The marriage was registered under the appropriate Union Council.

The petition alleges that a harmonious relationship existed only during the first few days after marriage. It states that afterward her husband’s demeanor became drastically altered with frequent quarrels and poor home life.

Domestic Abuse Allegations Mentioned in Petition

In the lawsuit, Dr Nabiha Ali Khan alleges abuse, mistreatment and frequent arguments over trivial household issues from her time with him.

She was also treated inhumanely and was treated like an animal,” the petition also alleges, according to which it was impossible to reside with him as his wife.

The petitioner states that the differences between the two parties has grown too much to appease and that she does not believe she can maintain the marital relationship within the boundaries of Islamic law.

What Relief Has the Court Been Asked to Grant?

Through her legal counsel, Dr Nabiha Ali Khan has requested the Lahore Family Court to:

• Grant a decree for the dissolution of marriage through Khula.
• Award the costs of the legal proceedings.
• Provide any other relief the court considers appropriate under the law.

Court Yet to Decide the Case

The case is now pending before Lahore Family Court. The court has not yet made any findings on the allegations in the petition. The claims made in the filing in this stage will be treated as the petitioner’s submissions and can be challenged in court and by the Respondent.
