Education minister asks private school owners to reduce fees by 20%

Punjab government calls on private school owners to reduce fees by 20% during the recent Coronavirus break.

Provincial Minister of School Education Murad Rass issued the instructions on Tuesday. During an interview, Murad Raas has said that private schools will reduce student fees by 20% for the months of April and May. And schools will not receive a two-month lump sum fee but only will receive a fee of the respective month.

He further added that students from 1st to 8th grade should be given summer vacation homework and the students who submit work should be promoted to the next class due to COVID-19 situation.

Education Minister mentions that the proposal regarding the reduction of 20% fee was sent to the Chief Minister of Punjab. And in the proposal, he gave the idea to declare the current holiday as a summer vacation. It is also important to complete the school education calendar. It is not possible to give six months’ vacation to children from schools. He also notifies schools against firing any staff member during the current situation.
