How to Get Electricity Bill Subsidy on Up to 200 Units – Complete Guide

The government has introduced a major update for electricity consumers in Punjab using up to 200 units per month, aiming to improve transparency in the electricity subsidy system and ensure that financial relief is provided only to eligible households.

The officials of the Power Division Pakistan have announced launching of a new QR code based digital verification system for electricity bill consumers of the province of Punjab.

QR Code Now Mandatory on Electricity Bills

The new system will bring electricity bills with a QR code to Punjab. This code will used to scan by consumers to confirm their identity and eligibility for the subsidy program.

The step has added to prevent misuse of the subsidy system, particularly when the same household is claiming benefits twice for the same meter.

The decision is part of a larger initiative to streamline the subsidy distribution process and promote equitable treatment, officials said.

How to Complete Electricity Subsidy Verification

People who consume between 0 and 200 units per month can follow a simple process to check their eligibility:

Use any smartphone camera or QR scanner app to scan the electricity bill QR code. This will take you to the official government website.

Next, users will be taken to the CSSP ITC portal, where they must enter:

  • 14-digit electricity bill reference number
  • CNIC (National Identity Card) number

After entering the details, an OTP (one-time password) will sent to the registered mobile number for final verification.

Once verified, the consumer’s subsidy status will updated in the system.

Important Instructions for Consumers

The authorities have issued a warning to the consumers to ensure that the name mentioned on electricity bill is in line with their CNIC. Any discrepancy could delay or pose problems in verification.

The Power Division also explained that this is an ongoing verification process and that consumers may be required to re-verify from time to time in order to continue to qualify for subsidy.

Alternative Option for Users Facing Issues

However, in cases where consumers have problems scanning the QR code, they can register themselves manually online at the official cross-subsidy program portal.

Objective of the New System

The main goal of this initiative to ensure that electricity subsidies directed only to deserving low-consumption households, while eliminating misuse and improving transparency in the distribution process.
