NADRA CNIC New Policy: Signature Not Mandatory for Applicants

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified an important rule regarding the issuance of the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC), stating that a signature is not mandatory for first-time applicants.

The officials of NADRA have stated that those who are unable to sign will get “N/A” in the signature area on their CNIC in their absence. The authority pointed out that no fingerprint or other marks are substituted for a signature, which helps to prevent misuse and forgery.

Guidelines for Applicants

NADRA also cautioned that fingerprint images or any other marks should not be uploaded by those drafting their application on the NADRA mobile App and online services. This could lead to delays in processing.

CNIC Update Option

Citizens having a CNIC and who want to attach or alter their signature can either file a modification request or renew his/her CNIC at the NADRA Registration Centre.
