Power Division Announces Relief in September Electricity Prices

ISLAMABAD: The Power Division has taken measures to reduce the expected September fuel price adjustment from Rs. 6 to Rs. 2.56 per unit, providing potential relief of Rs. 3.44 per unit to electricity consumers.

According to an official statement, limited load management of around two to two and a half hours daily was carried out in September to control electricity generation costs. Authorities also took steps to reduce the impact of expensive imported liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The Power Division warned that rising household gas demand during winter could limit gas availability, making imported re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) necessary to maintain stability in the power sector.

The final adjustment applicable to electricity bills will be determined through the relevant government decision and official notification.
