Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the SEHR (Skill Enhancement Through Home Reach) Program, a major initiative aimed at equipping women across the province with modern vocational and technical skills to help them earn a livelihood from home.
The programme aims to increase women’s economic empowerment by offering accessible training without them having to leave their homes. The initiative will provide professional training to 5,365 women from all over Punjab in various domains like beauty services, hospitality, and digital technology, which would allow them to enter both the local and online job market.
Spending more than Rs. 970 million, the SEHR Program demonstrates the government’s commitment to women empowerment, skill development and employment creation through innovative and flexible learning approaches. According to the officials, the initiative will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between education and employment, particularly for the women in remote and under-served regions.
The government will also distribute laptops, internet devices, data packages and monthly stipends during training to allow participants to have uninterrupted access to digital learning resources.
The program is also contributing to the broader initiatives aimed at creating a skilled female labor force and encouraging economic inclusion through home-based income-generating activities in Punjab.
