Woman Passenger’s Number Shared On “Rishta App”: Lahore Rickshaw Driver Arrested

Police in Lahore have arrested an “InDrive” rickshaw driver for allegedly sharing a female passenger’s mobile number on a matchmaking “Rishta” app after an argument during a ride. The woman complained at the DIG Operations’ open court, prompting police action.

According to a Lahore police spokesperson, the woman and the driver had an argument during the journey.

Police said the InDrive driver later uploaded the woman’s mobile number on a matchmaking “Rishta” app out of resentment. The woman then approached the DIG Operations’ open court and filed a complaint.

Police took action following the complaint and arrested the accused.

A report published on September 30 identified the accused as Latif. It said the case was registered at Nishtar Colony Police Station after the complaint. The report also said police cited Sections 354, 509(ii) and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Police said the investigation will proceed under the law.

The case highlights the risks of sharing someone’s personal contact information online without consent. Punjab Police currently provides the 1787 IGP Complaint Center for citizens to report complaints and seek police action.
