US President Donald Trump has said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will have “no choice” but to accept a potential US–Iran nuclear deal, emphasizing that final decisions on Iran negotiations will be made in Washington, not Tel Aviv.
During a significant interview in the Financial Times, Trump stressed that despite the current tensions between Iran and Israel, the United States is still working on a diplomatic outreach to Iran.
Iran-Israel Tensions Continue Amid US Diplomatic Efforts
Recent missile exchanges and Iran-Israel tensions have not altered his stance on seeking a deal with Tehran, says Donald Trump. He emphasized that the U.S. has not lost interest in obtaining a possible Iran nuclear pact or wider security accord.
The comments come at a time when the Middle East security situation remains fragile, with concerns growing over a potential wider regional conflict involving Iran and Israel.
Trump Urges Restraint on Israel Over Iran Retaliation
In addition, U.S. media reports indicate that Trump has told Israeli leaders including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to consider an immediate military response to Iran. Rather, he has reportedly urged for continuation of diplomatic negotiation.
It indicates an active push for Iran diplomacy and region de-escalation by the US, while Washington aims to avoid further military escalation.
US Iran Nuclear Deal Negotiations: Possible Outcomes
Trump also warned that if a deal with Iran is not reached, the United States may consider tougher measures. These could include:
- Increased economic sanctions on Iran
- Continued maximum pressure strategy
- Possible military action if diplomatic efforts fail
Despite these warnings, Trump reiterated that diplomacy remains the preferred path.
Geopolitical Impact on Middle East Stability
The on-going Iran-Israel conflict and the US effort to mediate a deal are likely to have a significant effect on the stability of the Middle East, experts note. The talks are under scrutiny, as any failure to reach an agreement could worsen the tensions in the region.
The US remains the central figure in the Iranian nuclear issue, and Israel has serious security concerns about Iran’s regional activities.
