The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Religious Affairs has officially directed the Ministry to send a parliamentary delegation to the Prophet’s (ﷺ) Mosque. Members will visit the holy site on 11th Rabi’ al-Awwal at government expense. The delegation will receive “State Guest” protocol during their stay in Saudi Arabia.
Acting Chairperson Shagufta Jamani presided over the meeting at Parliament House. The committee issued clear instructions to the Ministry of Religious Affairs regarding the upcoming visit. They confirmed that the parliamentary delegation must arrive at the Prophet’s (ﷺ) shrine by 11th Rabi’ al-Awwal.
The move aims to represent Pakistan officially during the significant religious period. The committee also finalized that the Saudi government will host the group under State Guest status. This decision follows a review of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) designed for high-level government travels.
Ministry of Religious Affairs to Implement New Hajj Policy and SOPs
In addition to the delegation, the National Assembly Standing Committee on religious affairs examined the pilgrim facilities at large. The meeting was aimed at improving the Hajj Policy in order to provide Pakistani citizens with more services.
- SOP Approval: The committee reviewed and approved the formal report on delegation protocols.
- Hajj Policy Updates: Members discussed improvements for the upcoming Hajj season.
- Interfaith Harmony: The chair emphasized maintaining high standards for all religious activities.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs will now execute the logistics for this state-funded journey. By securing State Guest status, the delegation ensures a high level of diplomatic coordination with Saudi authorities. Shagufta Jamani and her team approved necessary amendments to the visit’s framework to maintain transparency.
