Lahore to Get New 21-Story IT Tower: Arfa Karim Tower II Announced

In a significant move to bolster the IT sector, Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, has given the go-ahead for the construction of the 21-storey Arfa Karim Tower-II in Lahore. This decision was made during a high-level meeting, where the blueprint for IT City and Lahore Knowledge Park project was presented by CBD CEO, Imran Amin.

The new tower is part of a broader initiative to transform Lahore into a hub for IT, education, and film city projects. Tech giants like Microsoft and Oracle have already shown interest in setting up their operations in IT City Lahore. The Chief Minister also extended an invitation to major IT companies from China to establish their offices in the city.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized that IT City would offer business opportunities to top-tier IT companies worldwide. Additionally, it will host campuses of globally renowned universities, catering to students from all over Pakistan, including Punjab. She instructed the concerned authorities to expedite the process of inviting these universities to set up their campuses in Education City.

The meeting also saw the approval of a free Wi-Fi pilot project in Lahore. The project, set to launch at 10 locations in the city within two weeks, will eventually establish 516 free Wi-Fi points across the provincial capital. Priority will be given to educational institutions, airports, railway stations, and bus stands for the Wi-Fi facility.

The meeting was attended by key provincial ministers, advisers, and other officials, reflecting the government’s commitment to this ambitious project. With these initiatives, Lahore is poised to become a leading player in the global IT landscape.
