Sharjeel Memon files an official complaint with the NCCIA against fake social media accounts which are targeting him and his son.
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon takes strict action against a fake online smear campaign. He filed a formal complaint with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) against unknown social media handles targeting him and his son.
Memon rejected claims linking him to the ownership of a guesthouse in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi. He stated that unknown users are spreading fake and malicious posts to ruin his public image.
Four social media accounts posted identical text at the exact same time. Memon pointed out that this simultaneous posting proves a planned and coordinated attack. He added that political rivals are using bot networks, fake accounts, and proxies to run the campaign.
Call for Technical Investigations
Memon urged the NCCIA to launch an immediate forensic and technical investigation into the matter. He demanded that authorities track down the original source, organizers, and financial backers of the smear campaign. He also requested officials to obtain IP logs and SIM card registration data from internet service providers.
Furthermore, he asked relevant social media platforms to preserve account activity logs immediately. He demanded strict legal action against offenders under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
Memon assured the authorities of his full cooperation during the probe to expose the individuals behind the fake posts.
